But over time, we all caught on and got sick of the perfection. We realized that those glamorous profiles were just pretty facades and that for every picture of a happy family on a gorgeous beach in Mexico, there was one kid with Montezuma’s revenge; for every post about one child’s academic excellence, their sibling surely spent the day in the principal’s office; and for every photo of an infant who looked supremely happy to be “2 months old,” there was a sleep-deprived parent who spent hours styling a screaming baby’s headband.

So we decided to tell the truth. And laugh about it.

Facebook became the perfect place to rebel against perfection. And it produced some hilarious results.

Sure, lots of people maintain pristine profiles revealing nothing more than their #blessings. And good for them. But our favorite people on Facebook are the beleaguered parents who aren’t afraid to share their reality, encourage us to laugh with them and don’t mind if we forget their birthdays.
