The racial tension and violence seen in Ferguson, Missouri, reflects a larger problem seen throughout the country, the state’s U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill said Friday.
“This is a bigger issue than Ferguson,” the Missouri Democrat told TODAY's Savannah Guthrie. “We have a disconnect between some communities in this country and law enforcement. And law enforcement only works if the people of this country believe in it.”
Protesters peacefully gathered near the police department Thursday, nearly a day after two officers were shot.
