The country wants to know more about its next poet laureate.

Sales have jumped for books by Philip Levine, a Pulitzer Prize winner who on Wednesday was named the U.S. poet laureate. Within a day of the Library of Congress' announcement, several of Levine's books had sold out on Amazon.com, including "News of the World" and "The Simple Truth." Levine's "What Work Is" ranked No. 110 as of Thursday morning, a status rarely held by a book of poetry.

Levine, 83, is known for his celebrations of the working class. He has won the Pulitzer, the National Book Award and many other honors.
