A jacket and a pair of earrings abruptly ended the 35-year esteemed broadcasting career of Martha Vazquez.
The former Ariz. news anchor was caught shoplifting the items from a Tucson department store four years ago. She lost her job quickly afterward and spiraled into a deep depression. Sitting down with her close friend and former colleague, Vazquez told TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie just what led her into that dark period of her life.
"I think a lot of people can relate to not dealing with things that might be happening inside, acting out in a way that would be unexpected even to them," Guthrie said Wednesday after the segment aired. "I think she chose a graceful way back."
