Our Ambush Makeover team of TODAY contributor Jill Martin and celebrity hairstylist Louis Licari pulled two deserving women off the plaza Thursday morning, bringing them from no-make up to glam looks in three hours.
Spending all day with kids as a pre-school teacher, Rachel Pelikan, 31, doesn't give much thought her daily look. There's no time for makeup except for the occasional dab of eyeliner, which Pelikan says doesn't even look good. While on a girls trip from St. Louis to New York City for a friend's birthday, Pelikan got to add some elegance and flare to her look.
With the big reveal, her friends gasped and screamed with excitement as they saw Pelikan's new look.
"Oh my gosh! Wahoooo! Yes!" Pelikan cheered as she saw herself in the mirror for the first time. "Oh my gosh! I look like J.Lo!"
Just in time for her 60th birthday, Piera Coleman got some well-deserved pampering as TODAY's second Ambush Makeover of the day. The mother of three is a cancer survivor who now works as a hospice aid. Coleman hasn't worn a stitch of make up since 1986 and said her wardrobe is comprised of anything comfy.
Let's just say 60 never looked so good! Coleman's friend Donna, who so badly wanted this for her, was absolutely stunned.
"Oh my gosh, she's stunning," said Donna as she got teary eyed. "You're beautiful. Oh my goodness. You're lovely"
Even Coleman was in disbelief when she saw herself.
It was an exciting day for both ladies and their friends! Now they're ready to explore the Big Apple in style!
