The Golden Globes offered a star-studded night Sunday, but more than a few questions lingered into Monday. We tackle some of the more interesting ones.
Did Jodie Foster come out?
Foster joked that she had a big revelation to make, then punted and said that it was that "I'm single." She later did go on to acknowledge her former partner, Cydney Bernard, calling her "one of the deepest loves of my life, my heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life, my confessor, ski buddy, consigliere, most beloved BFF of 20 years." But Foster herself isn't calling the speech a coming-out moment, saying, "I hope you’re not disappointed that there won’t be a big coming-out speech tonight, because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago."

Did she retire from acting?
The speech sure seemed to say as much. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, backstage after the speech, Foster clearly said, "No, I am not retiring. I could never stop acting." She said that her speech was meant to indicate that her work was evolving.
What about that touching reference to her mother?
Foster touchingly invoked her mother and former manager, saying "Mom, I know you’re inside those blue eyes somewhere and that there are so many things that you won’t understand tonight. But this is the only important one to take in: I love you, I love you, I love you. ... You’re a great mom. Please take that with you when you’re finally OK to go." Foster told British magazine Psychologies in 2011 that her mother Evelyn's battle with dementia is " the hardest thing I've been through and yet also strangely sacred... I'm just here to care for her. I have no axe to grind. Mine will be the last face she sees."
Did Anne Hathaway's mother really play the role for which Hathaway won?
Yes. Kate McCauley Hathaway was an understudy for the 1990 touring production of "Les Miserables." Hathaway, then just 7 (or 8, which is what she said in her speech), told the U.K. Telegraph that she wore her best outfit to see her mother perform as Fantine. Her "best outfit" at the time was "fuchsia paisley culottes, with my electric-blue baseball cap."
Why did Lena Dunham thank Chad Lowe?
Dunham has a good memory. The "Girls" star cited actor Chad Lowe in her acceptance speech because Lowe's then-wife, Hilary Swank, forgot to do so when she won the Oscar for "Boys Don't Cry" in 2000. Dunham was just 13 when Swank gave that speech.
What was up with Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig?
When the two "Saturday Night Live" vets tried to fake that they'd seen the nominees in their category, they were reaching back to "SNL" characters Garth and Kat (played by Fred Armisen and Kristen Wiig), who never prepare for anything.
Did Jennifer Lawrence really diss Meryl Streep?
When accepting her award for "Silver Linings Playbook," Lawrence did crack, "I beat Meryl." But many recognized that line as one from the 1996 Bette Midler movie "The First Wives' Club," in which Midler's character jokes that Goldie Hawn's character's Oscar reads, "I beat Meryl."
