When news breaks about the arrest of a featured family member from MTV’s “16 and Pregnant,” it’s usually one of the youngdads-of-the-week that’s making headlines. Not so this time. According to TMZ, a reality TV grandma is behind bars after police found marijuana in her car and methamphetamines in her purse.

April Purvis, mother to teen mom Whitney and grandmother to baby Weston, was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession after police in Floyd County, Georgia, pulled her over during the early hours of Sunday morning.

“16 and Pregnant” viewers may remember April as the mother who was pregnant at the same time as her own daughter during the show’s first season.

As for that daughter, while Whitney has yet to address the specifics of April’s arrest, she has made one thing clear — her mom’s bad behavior has nothing to do with her.

“What my mom does, does not affect me,” Whitney told TMZ. “(I’m) nothing like (my) parents. I do not want my son to grow up how I did.”
