Ousted 'Voice' singer admits America got it right with save
The race to the finale is on at "The Voice." The singing competition cut not two but three contestants Tuesday night after America voted once again keep Kat Perkins around. The silenced voices? Audra McLaughlin, Delvin Choice and Sisaundra Lewis.
Choice, who was on Adam Levine's team, told TODAY after the live elimination show that America got it right.
“If you don’t know who I vote for, you should by now,” he told us. “Kat is my teammate, the epitome of a friend, and she deserves this more than anybody. She possesses everything it takes to be a star.”
All four coaches — Levine, Shakira, Usher and Blake Shelton — support their singers and encourage America to tweet to save them, but Levine practically orders the folks that support his team to hit up Twitter.
“I want you guys to vote for (Kat) because she represents (special),” Levine urged during the show. “This girl carries the torch and then some. I made Kat a promise. I said if she came and did exactly what she did ... she’d move on. I’ll do whatever you want me to do. I’ll sell myself. Make the right decision, or I’ll get very, very, very upset with you.”
Is it possible that the more passionate a coach becomes the more likely his or her singer will be saved?
“I think the coaches have a huge influence on how social media runs,” Lewis told TODAY. “But Blake’s been really supportive. Maybe in the moment he was really surprised that two of his team members were standing there on stage (in jeopardy)?”
“Blake has always had confidence in me,” McLaughlin said in support of her coach. “That was the main thing that really helped me go out there and leave it out there on the stage. It’s because he believed in me. You can’t ask for anything better than to have Blake Shelton believe in you, you know? He’s such an amazing, genuine person. He just truly cares about people, especially artists.”
The three ousted singers shared with TODAY their plans for the future.

“I’m going to relax first,” Choice said. “The best is yet to come for Delvin.”
In fact, it's already pretty good for him. After the show, he told host Carson Daly, "Everybody thinks it's one of those things where you're, like, devastated. ... My phone is just flooded (with) words of encouragement, affirmation. I'm in a great place, man."
As for McLaughlin, she wants to record a country album next. “I love Martina McBride,” she said. “I want my first album to be like hers.”
Lewis is looking forward to reuniting with her children in Florida. "I know that I'm going to go home and hug up on my kids for a little while," she said with a smile.
Beyond that. Lewis plans to keep doing what she does best.
"Singing is my life," she insisted.
