Hillary Clinton has joined the Twitter universe, making her debut tweet Monday with a nod to the two guys who elevated her to rock-star status on social media.
“Thanks for the inspiration @ASmith83 & @Sllambe - I'll take it from here…#tweetsfromhillary,” the former Secretary of State said in her first tweet.
The call-out was to the founders of the “Texts from Hillary” Tumblr account that went wildly viral last year. Clinton now uses the iconic photo from the meme — the one of her clad in dark sunglasses, coolly texting back her recipients — as her Twitter profile avatar.

In her profile, Clinton described herself as: “Wife, mom, lawyers, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD…”
Her @HillaryClinton handle had 41,000 followers as of 1:15 pm EDT, but she was only following four individuals: her daughter, Chelsea, her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and his two organizations, the Clinton Global Initiative and the Clinton Foundation.
Chelsea Clinton quickly welcomed her mom to Twitter, while the former president offered a wisecrack to his wife's debut.
"Does @Twitter have a family share plan?" he joked. "Great to be here with @HillaryClinton & @ChelseaClinton. Looking forward to #tweetsfromhillary."
