Stephen Colbert is known as the satirical host of "The Colbert Report" on Comedy Central. But he's also a Grammy-winning singer (for "A Colbert Christmas" in 2010) and now, he's hanging his hopes on becoming a chart-topping pop singer.

Thursday night, Colbert premiered "Charlene II (I'm Over You)" on his "Report," backed by former White Stripe and song producer Jack White, who has been with the show all week helping Colbert present his "rock odyssey" series, "Dr. Pepper Presents StePhest ColbChella '011 -- Rock You Like a Thirst-Icane."

This isn't the first time Colbert has gone into "Charlene" territory -- back in 2006 he suggested on "Report" that he was the lead singer in a band called Stephen and the Colberts, and that he had recorded the 1980s new wave flavored "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)."

The twist this time is that Colbert is now making "Charlene II" available on iTunes -- and vinyl, via Third Man Records. The host and White are scheduled to be appearing all around Manhattan on Friday, selling copies of the song from a "rolling record store" -- a truck that roams the country selling the label's music.
