Jack Coleman played Noah Bennett (aka "HRG" or "Horn-Rimmed Glasses") in the original series, which ran from 2006 to 2010. Bennett, a former Company agent, was the father of super cheerleader Claire, played by Hayden Panettiere. The "Nashville" actress recently told Cosmopolitan that she had not (yet) been asked to rejoin the series, speculating that the show may return with "a whole new set of characters."

Not all new, it seems.

Coleman's a familiar face to TV fans, appearing as Caroline's father on "The Vampire Diaries" and Senator Bracken on "Castle." He's also racked up a few parts as closeted gay men, as on "The Office" (Angela's senator husband) and "Scandal" (Sally's husband).

The original "Heroes" followed the adventures of ordinary folks who found themselves mysteriously possessed of supernatural powers. Creator Tim Kring is also behind the 13-episode reboot.

"Heroes Reborn" is set to air in 2015 on NBC.
