Pennsylvania attorney general: We have evidence Vatican knew about sex abuse
Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, who is leading the investigation into decades of child sex abuse at the hands of Catholic priests in the state, joins TODAY to weigh in on the probe and the church’s growing abuse crisis. “We have evidence that the Vatican had knowledge of the cover-up. I can’t specifically speak to Pope Francis,” he said, adding, “We’re seeing institutions (…) putting their own institutional reputation above the welfare of children. We will not tolerate that in Pennsylvania.”
