Losing a partner can lead to heart problems, study says
The loss of a partner can lead to heart problems, according to a new study in Denmark that finds the risk of atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat, jumps 41 percent following the death of a partner. It found the risk is highest one to two weeks after the loss, then it gradually declines over the next year. The risk is higher when the partner's death is unexpected.
