CDC: More people are living longer, here’s why
The number of Americans who are at least 100 years old jumped by more than 43 percent from 2000 to 2014. Women make up 80 percent of that group. Among those who are older than 100, death rates declined from flu, pneumonia, stroke and heart disease, but increased dramatically from Alzheimer’s disease and high blood pressure.
