Former NYPD chief James O’Neill talks about his new role in coronavirus battle
James O’Neill, former New York City police commissioner, has been tapped by Mayor Bill de Blasio to help hospitals get the supplies they desperately need to battle the coronavirus pandemic. He tells TODAY that he’s tapping people who have “experience with complex problems.” With 5,000 New York City police currently out sick, he says the city also needs to make sure that the police “have the right protective equipment.”
