Florida school superintendent: We don’t need to ‘build armed fortresses’
Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie tells TODAY that the solution to school violence is not “to turn our schools into prisons and build armed fortresses,” but does acknowledge a need for heightened security. He says it is a day of “mixed emotions” at Stoneman Douglas High School, but that he is “happy and elated to have students come back to school.”
