Pause in clinical trial of COVID vaccine is not unusual, doctor says
After pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca paused its Phase 3 trial of a potential coronavirus vaccine, Dr. Ashish Jha, dean of the Brown University School of Public Health, tells TODAY that “lots of clinical trials get paused,” adding that “it could be something very serious, it could be something completely unrelated to the vaccine.” Commenting on the pledge by nine drugmakers to not take shortcuts on developing a vaccine, he says, “We’ve got to let science ride the timeline, not politics.”
