Rather than receive gifts for her 11th birthday, Bella Gonzales chose to give them to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
"I just thought, 'Wouldn't it be nice to donate instead of getting anything for me?'" the girl told NBC's Pittsburgh affiliate.
In advance of the occasion, Bella asked family and friends to bring toys and other presents that would be donated to young patients. She said she got the idea for the birthday wish while her mother was driving around town.
The idea gained even more momentum when Bella's mom posted the request on Facebook.
"It really just took off from there," Bella said.
About 50 people, including strangers, donated everything from Xbox consoles and tablets to board games and action figures.
"[Donors] just dropped stuff off at our house," Bella added.

On Tuesday night, Bella's family stuffed two SUVs full of gifts and delivered the presents to the hospital.
"I hope [the kids] are really happy," said Bella, who's already planning a similar donation campaign for next year. "I hope I can just make them smile."
