Carrie Underwood's upcoming album, "Storyteller," features a song about someone very special: her 6-month-old son, Isaiah.

When the proud mom sat down with TODAY's Natalie Morales in an interview that aired Monday, she talked about her baby boy's influence on her music.

"It would be impossible to not let your life kind of work its way into your music," she said. "My son — he's the happiest little thing in the morning. He wakes up ready to go and smiling and laughing. It makes mornings a little sweeter."

The singer, 32, also took the opportunity to reflect on the TV show that made her famous: "American Idol," which will end after its 15th season next year.

"It's very bittersweet — that 'Idol' is coming to an end. Obviously, that's why I'm here, and I owe so much to the show. But I mean, you think 15 years being on the air, that is an accomplishment," she said.

Underwood added, "I really hope they feel proud because I know that I do, having been a part of it."

It looks as though Isaiah, whom Underwood welcomed with husband Mike Fisher in February, is already following in his mom's musical footsteps.

In an Instagram photo she posted last month, Isaiah is pictured playing a tiny piano in the family's backyard.

"Oh, just playing my piano in my blazer in the yard ..." she captioned the adorable shot.
