TUCSON - A mariachi group which is widely regarded as the seed from which the mariachi movement in the U.S. has grown, is celebrating 50 years.
Mariachi Los Changuitos Feos de Tucson is celebrating 50 years with a spectacular set of events, including:
• Friday, August 22: Alumni-directed performance at 1:00 pm at the Tucson
Marriott on University Park, 880 N. 2nd St.
• Friday, August 22: Panel Discussion, Mariachi Story: "Then and Now"
moderated by Maribel Alvarez. Panelists: Daniel Sheehy, Gilbert Velez
and Leonor X Perez at 1:00 pm at the Tucson Marriott on University Park,
880 N. 2nd St.
• Saturday, August 23: Main Concert featuring Mariachi Cobre, Mariachi
Garibaldi, Olga Flores, Adalberto Gallego, Ballet Foklórico San Juan, Los
Changuitos Feos De Tucson and Los Changuitos Feos alumni at 7:00 pm
at the Tucson Convention Center, Music Hall.
