Actress Lindsay Lohan was sentenced on Friday to 120 days in jail for violating her probation on a 2007 drunk driving conviction.

Lohan was taken from a Los Angeles court by sheriff's deputies officials at the end of a preliminary hearing on a jewelry theft charge.

Lohan was earlier ordered to stand trial in June on a reduced, misdemeanor charge of stealing a $2,500 necklace in January. But the judge on Friday ruled that the jewelry incident was a probation violation and sentenced her to 120 days jail and 480 hours community service.

Lohan's lawyer said she would file an immediate appeal.
