Going above and beyond his conservator duties, Britney Spears’ dad, Jamie, has sailed past simply getting the pop star’s estate in order and moved on to playing matchmaker.

Star magazine reports the concerned father is convinced that a reunion with Kevin Federline is just what the doctor ordered for his embattled daughter.

The irony of Jamie’s plan is that he wasn’t exactly a K-Fed fan when the wannabe rapper hitched his wagon to Britney back in 2004. But after seeing his daughter’s troubles since her breakup with Kevin, Jamie changed his mind.

“Jamie thinks highly of him now,” a source told Star. And while he and Kevin spent time golfing recently, “Kevin admitted to Jamie that he still loves Britney.”

“Kevin would definitely take her back, but she will have to stay on track for a while,” a close insider revealed. “She was the love of his life, and he’ll never get over that.”

One source told Star that Jamie has even arranged for Kevin to meet with Britney at her home for a chance to talk over their problems. “It’s secure, and she would feel comfortable in her own surroundings. Britney’s nervous but excited to show Kevin that she really has changed and can be a good mom — and a good partner.”

Carnie determined to ditch poundsIt’s been nearly nine years since Carnie Wilson underwent her well-publicized gastric bypass surgery and lost more than 150 pounds. Since that time, she’s given birth to her daughter, Lola, and seen the post-pregnancy rebound pounds stick around. In a recent interview with OK! magazine, Carnie discussed her ongoing struggles and her goal to put it all behind her.

“I’ve hit rock bottom with my weight,” the entertainer confessed. “Everyone can see that I’m bigger, but I cannot hibernate. I’ve never lied or been dishonest about what’s going on in my life. Even all these years later, having had such a great weight-loss story, being back in this place is so familiar. And it hurts. I don’t want to feel this way anymore. It doesn’t feel good when you have to struggle to get your pants on.”

There’s no mystery behind the return of the weight, according to Carnie. “Ever since I had my daughter, my focus is not on me; it’s on her.” Now at 208 pounds, she told OK!, “For the past two-and-a-half years, I haven’t slept. I am convinced there has to be a link between sleep deprivation and a slower metabolism.”

Despite regaining much of what she shed after her surgery, Carnie insists she has no regrets about the risky procedure. “No, it was the best thing I ever did,” she said. “If I didn’t have the surgery, I’d probably be dead. My liver was enlarged; it was toxic. I had sleep apnea — I was waking up choking 10 times a night. My cholesterol and blood pressure were high. I was pre-diabetic and had circulation problems, slipped disks in my back, acne and chronic headaches. The surgery taught me to be accountable for what I put in my mouth.”

Carnie’s current battle with the bulge is about more than just about her personal health and getting back into a size eight, though. “I’d like to lose 45 to 50 pounds and then try to get pregnant again.” She added, “I know I will do it! I don’t consider myself a failure. I just got off track.”

Dish on the fly While many New York based celebrities eventually follow the call of the West Coast, Sarah Jessica Parker insists she not L.A.-bound. “I've always considered New York my home, and since my husband, Matthew Broderick, was born and raised here, we never even considered moving away,” the “Sex and the City” star told Hello! magazine. “New York has the big advantage of not treating celebrities like exotic creatures.” … “Desperate Housewives’” Felicity Huffman stands accused of accepting sweet accolades rightfully due to her co-star Teri Hatcher. Seems Teri presented her pal with a baked delight, only to have Felicity serve it to her husband, William H. Macy, and enjoy all the praise. “I made Felicity a pie,” Teri shared in a quote posted to ContactMusic.com. “For some reason, she had to have a pie. And I was like, 'I'll make it'. She e-mailed me afterwards and said, 'Bill loved it. I didn't tell him who made it — I took credit, and the brownie points are going to last me a year. Thank you very much.’”
