When choosing a daycare for your child, it can be easy to get caught up in the details, but in TODAY's "New Baby Basics" video series, TODAY producer Patrice Poltzer and her husband, Olly Jones, take a look at the most important things for new parents to consider when choosing childcare for their little one.

In the video, Poltzer visits Brooklyn Preschool of Science and talks with Carmelo Piazza, the executive director of the facility, about what really matters.

"The one thing that matters to me more than anything is safety," says Piazza. "It doesn't matter how great a school looks. It doesn't matter how amazing curriculum or mission is. If you do not feel that your child is safe, everything else is secondary."

Got more questions? Sure you do. TODAY's New Baby Basic series answers (or tries to answer) the most-searched questions asked by new parents. See the entire digital original series here.
