Queen Elizabeth II has bought a 2,600-square-foot condo in Chicago — in a building called “The Buckingham.” She paid $1.575 million.

The 26th-floor unit is not meant for Her Majesty, who hasn’t graced the Windy City since 1959, but rather for Canadian consul Roy Norton, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.

Still, the name on the paperwork is “Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada,” which is even more fun than watching Lake Michigan freeze from the condo’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

The three-bedroom, three-bath condo next to the Art Institute of Chicago features a master suite with a soaking tub and separate shower, a laundry and storage room, and a large den suitable for a diplomat.

The purchase follows mistaken reports earlier this summer that the Queen had snagged a pied-a-terre in New York City.

The listing agent was Annemarie Stramacchia of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff Realty Group.
