Why wait for Friday to kick off the fun? We had a midweek treat on the plaza as LunchMoney Lewis took the stage for our latest summer concert series performance.

He also staged a TODAY Instagram takeover, so be sure to checkout the behind-the-scenes moments as he shared.

The rising hip-hop star belted out his hit "Bills," and we know one fan — our Al Roker — who'd really been looking forward to it.

As for other fans, here's hoping the ones who lined up early to see Lewis brought some "dope signs" with them! Before the show, the singer promised to make it worth the effort.

During a chat with the TODAY gang, Lewis explained the story behind his unique name.

"A good friend of mine — I remember I was really young — he was like, 'If I was a chubby kid like you, I'd call myself LunchMoney,'" he said. "And Lewis is my real last name, so I just put it all together."
