Why one university is planning to drop English, history and 11 other majors

English, history, philosophy and sociology would be eliminated, but they would expand programs like graphic design, finance, chemical engineering and management. The school says it’s a way to increase enrollment in programs that have a “clear career pathway.” On Wednesday, students staged a sit-in to protest the plan.
