Virginia dam ‘stable’ after fears it could burst
Officials say the 80-year-old College Lake Dam in Lynchburg, Virginia, is stable after heavy rains in the region. However, the dam is heavily damaged, and if it gave way, water levels downstream could rise 17 feet in a matter of minutes. Homes have been evacuated as a precaution.
