Liam’s parents thought he had the flu, but it quickly became clear that it was something much worse. His liver and kidneys started shutting down and he had to be put on dialysis. Liam had to have his fingers and feet amputated. After genetic testing done through a research study, doctors found that Liam had a genetic mutation that would make him susceptible to a bacteria found in dog saliva.
