Jake and Maria Grey, a happily married Texas couple, say they are considering divorce so they can qualify for Medicaid to help with the spiraling medical costs for their daughter, who suffers from a genetic disorder. Jake, a veteran of the U.S. army, makes $40,000, which is too high to qualify for Medicaid. Right now, the Greys say they have private insurance, but it’s expensive and there’s a lot it doesn’t cover. “You try anything when it comes to your child,” Maria told TODAY. NBC’s Gadi Schwartz has more on the couple’s heartbreaking dilemma.July 11, 2018
