Suspected Jacksonville shooter had history of mental illness, court documents say

Electronic Arts, the company behind the “Madden” video game franchise, issued a statement Tuesday following a deadly shooting at one of its events over the weekend in Jacksonville, Florida. The company said it is canceling its three remaining “Madden Classic” events while it runs a “comprehensive review of safety protocols.” Investigators have also revealed more details about 24-year-old David Katz, the suspected shooter who killed two people before taking his own life, saying he legally purchased the firearms two weeks ago. Court documents also detail Katz’s history of mental illness. NBC’s Kerry Sanders reports for TODAY.
