Dr. Jerome Adams, the U.S. surgeon general, tells TODAY that he “never saw” a Jan. 29 letter from White House trade adviser Peter Navarro warning of a possible coronavirus pandemic, but says “there were preparations going on all the time.” He acknowledges shortages of medical supplies, but says the federal government is “working with governors” to see that people get what they need. Despite Georgia reopening beaches and Wisconsin holding in-person voting Tuesday, he urges people to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
