Spike Lee told ‘Chi-Raq’ cast: ‘We’ve gotta save lives with this film’

04:52

Spike Lee  is known as the director of films including “Do the Right Thing” and “Malcolm X,” and he tackles the tough topic of gun violence in his upcoming movie “Chi-Raq” which updates the classical Greek play “Lysistrata” to a Chicago neighborhood ravaged by gang violence. He tells TODAY that he told his star-filled cast, “We’ve gotta save lives with this film.” He also address his recent remark that it’s easier for a black person to become president of the United States than head of a Hollywood studio or network.
