Joining TODAY from the Pentagon for a rare live interview, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper says there is so far only “inconclusive” evidence that the coronavirus could have originated in a lab in Wuhan, China, rather than naturally, but adds, “if the Chinese government had been more transparent earlier, it would have helped us.” He says a global “stop movement” order for U.S. military will be extended several weeks and that “our troops remain ready” to defend the country.
