Russian court sentences American Paul Whelan to 16 years for spying


On Monday morning, former Marine Paul Whelan was sentenced to 16 years in a Russian prison after a court in Moscow found him guilty of spying. Whelan held up a sign in the courtroom saying “sham trial.” TODAY senior international correspondent Keir Simmons reports.
