New information reveals that tensions between the U.S. and Russia allegedly came to a head just days before Election Day. NBC News has learned that least one of President Obama's senior advisers urged him to take a harder line with Vladimir Putin. According to intelligence officials, the U.S. even contacted the Kremlin directly with a method of communication traditionally used in times of crisis.
