When Jeremiah O’Keefe was 18 years old, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he heard about the attack on Pearl Harbor. Returning from the war, he would go on to be a state legislator, chair JFK’s 1960 presidential campaign for southern Mississippi, and become mayor of Biloxi, Mississippi. He spent much of his adult life fighting segregation. Jeremiah O’Keefe passed away at 93 years old.Aug. 28, 2016
