Liberty Island evacuated after woman scaled Statue of Liberty to protest migrant policy
The Statue of Liberty was shut down on the Fourth of July after a woman climbed up the monument in protest of the Trump administration’s immigration policy that separates migrant families. Liberty Island was evacuated, and authorities eventually captured the woman underneath Lady Liberty’s right foot, NBC’s Stephanie Gosk reports for TODAY.
