Ken Burns: My new series ‘The Vietnam War’ is ‘tough’ but ‘necessary’

03:50

The maker of such acclaimed documentaries as “The Civil War,” Ken Burns is now set to release the 10-part series “The Vietnam War,” which took him a decade to make. “This is tough stuff, but it’s necessary stuff,” Burns tells TODAY’s Matt Lauer, because contemporary “hyperpartisanship” is rooted in still unresolved national divisions over Vietnam. The documentary premieres on Sunday, Sept. 17th.
