Judge orders plane carrying deported mother and child to turn around

When a U.S. district judge heard the government had deported an immigrant mother and daughter who are plaintiffs in a lawsuit the judge was hearing over asylum restrictions, he demanded the Trump administration turn the Central America-bound plane around and bring them back to the U.S. It’s a challenge to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who in June declared that fleeing domestic or gang violence will no longer be considered grounds for asylum. The ACLU and other groups want that rule reversed. NBC justice correspondent Pete Williams reports for TODAY.
