On his HBO show Sunday night, comedian John Oliver called for the U.S. to get rid of the penny, pointing out that a penny costs 1.7 cents to make. “I don’t think we should get rid of the penny,” says Matt Lauer, and 55 percent of TODAY viewers surveyed on Twitter agreed.
