With about half a million people expected to descend on the city for the Olympic Games, Rio de Janeiro is contending with pollution, Zika, crime and corruption as it races the clock. TODAY’s Matt Lauer speaks to Eduardo Paes, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, who says “obviously this is a city that has problems, it’s not a perfect city, but it’s a city that’s gotten much better.” Paes also discusses the challenges of hosting both the Olympics and the World Cup within just two years.
