HS baseball team gets to name coach’s baby, is surprised by ‘Sandlot’ writer

The Heritage High School Panthers in Palm Bay, Florida, have never had a winning baseball season in the school's history, until this year. Their coach, Rob Querry, told his team that if they could get 14 wins for a winning season, they could choose the name of his unborn son, who's due in September. They chose the name Benny Smalls, inspired by the movie “The Sandlot,” and even got a visit from David Evans, who wrote the film.
