On April 27, 2011, a deadly EF4 tornado hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Shalare Powell's and Markedia Wells’ homes were two of about 4,700 that were destroyed. The women received new homes from Habitat for Humanity, and today, they volunteer for the organization as a way of giving back.March 27, 2019
