As Phase 3 testing for a coronavirus vaccine continues and the COVID-19 death toll in the U.S. exceeds 200,000, Alex Azar, secretary of health and human services, tells TODAY that “thanks to President Trump, we’re in such a better place than we were five or six months ago” and promises that “politics will play no role whatsoever in the approval of a vaccine.” Regarding stricter vaccine guidelines the FDA is planning to announce, he says, “We’ll look at it and determine if it’s appropriate,” and adds, “I will be first in line to get a vaccine.”Sept. 24, 2020
