Though hallucinogenic mushrooms have been illegal in the U.S. for more than 40 years, two new studies suggest they may be beneficial to some. About 80 percent of cancer patients who were given a single dose of psilocybin, a substance found in such mushrooms, had significant reductions in depression and anxiety, with benefits lasting for months in many cases.
