Government urges airlines to ban laptops in checked bags, citing fire risk

The Federal Aviation Administration is urging all airlines to ban large, personal electronic devices from checked luggage. New tests show rechargeable lithium-ion batteries in electronics like laptops can overheat and possibly explode, creating catastrophic fires. NBC’s Tom Costello reports for TODAY.
