George Floyd family attorney: Charges wouldn’t have been filed if not for protests

Reacting to new and upgraded charges against Minneapolis police officers in the killing of George Floyd, Ben Crump, the attorney for Floyd's family, tells TODAY’s Craig Melvin that the family had “a sense of relief,” though he still believes that former Derek Chauvin should be charged with first-degree murder instead of second-degree. He says that he doesn’t believe the charges would have been filed without the nationwide protests that have occurred and that Thursday’s memorial service for Floyd will be a “celebration of life” but also “a plea for justice.”
