Fluoride necessary to prevent cavities, study says

Throughout our lives we’ve been told to brush our teeth to prevent cavities, but a new article in the Gerodontology Dental Journal says brushing alone may not be enough and you need to brush with fluoride. Researchers have recognized fluoride as a cavity blocker for decades, but the public hasn’t always agreed — and social media users seem to be on both sides of the discussion. TODAY’s Dylan Dreyer reports from the Orange Room, while NBC medical correspondent Dr. John Torres weighs in on the study.
