Joining TODAY live, Dr. Anthony Fauci says that it was “inevitable” that the highly contagious variant strain of the coronavirus would appear in the U.S., but that “the good news is that it does not appear to be more virulent” or resistant to the vaccines. He urges Americans to continue to follow public health measures and calls for more resources for states and cities to pick up the disappointing pace of immunizations: “Hopefully, the gaining of momentum in January will get us where we want to be.”
