California’s Department of Motor Vehicles has ordered ride-sharing service Uber to stop picking up San Francisco passengers in its new self-driving cars. The state has issued permits to 20 companies to test the self-driving cars, but Uber isn’t one of them. Uber argues it doesn’t need a permit, since there is a person in the driver’s seat ready to take over.
